High-profile footballers who would be leaving their clubs this summer

With the 2021/22 football season drawing to a close, here are some well-known players who are confirmed to be leaving their clubs this summer…

1) Erling Braut Haaland

The 21 year old signed for Borrussia Durtmond on the 1st of January 2020 and has since netted 122 times in 172 games. He bid an emotional farewell to the club in his final game, a game which also saw him score his final goal for the club from the spot in the 2-1 win over Hertha Berlin. Haaland then gifted rolex watches to his teammates and club staff as parting gifts.

 

2) Paulo Dybala

The argentine forward was in tears when he played his final game in a juventus shirt after deciding to leave the club this summer. Dybala, 28, has scored 115 goals in 291 matches for the Italian side, including 15 in 37 games in the 2021-22 campaign. The Argentine joined from Palermo in 2015 for £23.8m and has won 12 trophies, including five league titles.

 

3) Robert Lewandowski

The polish striker joined Bayern Munich from Dortmund in 2014 and has scored over 200 goals for the club, helping them win the bundesliga in every season he played as well as Champions League, UEFA super cup and numerous other trophies, besides his own personal awards. However the striker will leave the club this summer with Chelsea seamingly interested in his services.

 

4) Mark noble

The England and West ham defender played over 500 games for West ham United in an 18-year period, and is set to leave this summer after a legendary career at the club. It was an emotional moment when he played his final home game for the club this season against Manchester city.

 

5) Giorgio Chiellini

Italy and juventus defender Giorgio chiellini is another juventus legend confirmed to be leaving the club this summer besides Paulo dybala. The 37 year-old legend is not only leaving juventus this summer after so many years but also retiring from the Italian national team.

 

6) Luis Suarez

Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez joined atletico Madrid from Barcelona in 2020. He was the club’s top scorer in the 2020/21 season (21 goals), helping them to their first spanish la Liga title in seven years. On 15 May 2022, after the last home match of this campaign for Atlético, the team announced Suárez’s departure at the end of the season.

 

7) Gareth Bale

Welsh forward Gareth Frank bale joined real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013 and formed a letter strike partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema. He also scored a brace against Liverpool in the 2018 UEFA Champions League final, helping real Madrid to a 3-1 victory over the reds to claim the title. 7) Marcelo

Marcelo latest trophy came yesterday, the 28th of may, 2022, Madrid’s UCL final victory over Liverpool.

 

8) Angel Di Maria

Dimaria 34, joined PSG from Manchester United in 2015 and has since won 18 trophies with the club, scoring 91 goals as well as providing 111 assist in 294 appearances.

 

9) Antonio Rudiger

Chelsea and Germany centre-back Antonio rudiger will leave the club for real Madrid this summer. Rudiger was an integral part of the blues team that won the UCL trophy in 2021. He received a standing ovation from the blues faithful in his final game for the club.

 

10) Edinson Cavani

Edinson cavani will leave Manchester United as his contract expires at the end of this season. He spent two years at the club.

 

11) Marcos Alonso
Besides Rudiger, Alonso is another player departing Chelsea this summer.
